I'm a 13 year old female in year 9 and I'm currently studying for my GCSE's. I moved up to set 2 in maths (yes, my worst subject is math) so I was very pleased. But my new teacher is horrible and I don't like my new class. In the very first lesson, she picked on me to answer the hardest questions, knowing I'm very shy. I hadn't even been taught this stuff yet. She yells at me to put my dictionary away (it doesn't fit in my bag so I have to leave it out). And kicks my school bag like 5 times to get it under the table. She gives me these wary glances and treats the other kids so much better. I don't know what I've done wrong! I've literally started her class today and I'm just really quiet. Does that annoy her?

I miss my old class :( I hate math but I actually looked forward to those classes :( I knew everything that was going on, I made many friends and the teacher was so energetic and helpful. This sounds cheesy, but I had many good memories from there. The teacher appreciated the fact that I didn't like talking and there were a lot of "write the answers on your whiteboard" activities..

Help!??? I can't move down, my whole aim was to move up. There Apis only one set 2 class in my half of the school :( xxx

She sounds like a bit of a b***h. If you haven't been taught something yet, tell her that, and if she was a good teacher she will help you to catch up. If she doesn't help you without you asking first, then ask her. I've been in this position. I went home and looked up what we were doing in class and I understood it in 10 minutes.

If she continues to yell at you, kicks your bag and treats everyone better than you, tell you parents to send an email to the teacher and then you will defiantly see a change.

I feel EXACTLY the same, im a boy in year 9, moved up to top set but i hate my teacher and my class mates. I feel unsafe around a feel people in that class as they act really bad and they go arround hurting people.

I asked my teacher that I want to move down because i think i will do better, she told me to go and speak to the maths head department, thats the only thing you can do really! Because you said that you dont like your class mates or your teacher, and they wont change the teacher just for you. You have to try to understand, only choice you have is to speak to the head of maths department and explain to him whats going on.

I REALLY hope this helps as ive been through it and understand you :P

Worth speaking to your form teacher or head teacher about this.

Any others in the class that could back up what you say would strengthen your case.
