You said it, man. I do miss those days with a passion, not the homework when I was elementary school, however, I do miss the easiest among easiest reading assignments, basic math (2+2 = 4), badass intro to science classes, and ******* easy geography assignments and homework. I do remember my teachers - all of my teachers - I mean all of them it was not same thing in my junior high and high school years, where I cannot remember some of them, even if high school had ended for me 1-2 years ago, I cannot...
It was not nap time in kindergarten that was the best, that was decent, I suppose, but it wasn't the best part of elementary, just like some of my friends assert, when they're looking back at their elementary school experience. I hated nap time because I HAD TO LOOK AT THE ******* CEILING AND I COULDN'T SLEEP...
For me personally, it was the recesses that had made elementary, the most memorable. We had four square and tetherball tournaments, playing basketball and football (as a result we were being the most competitive), and the occasional chalk drawing. We even had the race to see if we would have the swings at recess on the playground, no joke. Not to mention: we had Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh! battles and we also would trade them as if they were form of a currency, perform the occasional rap battles, and among other things at recess that I do not remember. When I was in elementary school I had 3 recesses a day where I had went to school, maybe 4 recesses if we were lucky and we didn't piss off the teacher (for that day). We had before school recess: 7:15am-8:30am; 10:30am recess; noon (or referred to midday recess or lunch recess); and maybe the occasional 2:30pm to end the school day. During recess, we would gossip about anything or talk about anything, swore, and we did bring pop and candy (we would snuck them in as if they were a form of drugs - even if we couldn't, you get the drift), etc, etc. It was also a way to be relived of the class environment and homework and we would have a positive thought in our subconsciousness for once compared to our junior high and high school years.
The lunches were moderately decent, they were home made where I had went to school compared to high school where it was just manufactured at a factory, and then brought over in a truck... In elementary school, we had breakfast - it was great, and in high school, breakfast was eh (save for donuts and breakfast pizza). There were some lunches and breakfasts when I was at elementary school that were ******* atrocious, but yeah... I remember this memory the most, when I was was in 3rd grade. The was first time that I had BBQ ribs that day, well, at that elementary school, I was in the car for an hour and I didn't feel too good because I was holding my stomach, moaning, and complaining, and I could barely get inside my house. So I then puked in living room when Pokemon was on... back in 2003. It's not there anymore obvious, there is no stain, but you can still distinctly smell it (barely).
After school was out for the day I would run on home to watch weekday cartoon blocks, such as: Kids' WB, Toonami, Fox Kids, Slime Time Live, etc, etc. I would watch these blocks from 3:00-6:00pm; I couldn't watch the first 45 minutes of those blocks because I had to drive on home - because I live in the country, and I still do - and I'm not a farmer (do not state that farmer stereotype, I'm not). Those were also my symbolic memories the most, save for besides recess. These shows were the epitaph of my childhood. I would hours upon hours upon hours of those blocks that I had lost track of time in the process, or until my parents or my brothers said "SUPPER!" With those blocks, I had discovered such shows as: Dragonball Z, Pokemon, Animaniacs, Pinky & the Brain, Sailor Moon, Batman: TAS, Superman: TAS, and so on and so forth. I do not know what would have happened if I didn't discover those weekday blocks on television, this was before when the Internet was easier to find and locate full episodes and stream them online from any site, back then you actually had to know people to do this, or even before live-speed Internet and downloads... Back in 2003, you either had VHS and DVD and that was about it. I think without those blocks I would have a boring life who didn't have a colorful day in my chilldhod. At least I was happy.
After those blocks were done for the day I would go outside and **** around with my friends and do stupid ****. We would all talk about what we just watched on Toonami or something, or we would just talk about what they had experienced that day at school, or whatever what was on our minds. We would all ride our bikes, skateboard, rollerblade (yes, I did that), or walk around the neighborhoods of Iowa City (from 2001-2003) and as I had aforementioned do bullshit things, mainly in our neighborhood, and that was about it... We had all did this from approximately 5-6pm until approximately 7-8pm, maybe 9pm, or until it was time for supper for all of us, and then afterwards, we would all go back outside and do the same **** all over again - until, our parents said "bedtime." Well I didn't go to bed I had watch more TV (maybe 3-4 more hours) and be on the computer for a little bit, and then I had went to bed at 10:30pm or 11:00pm, I believe so.
This was also when time was going the slowest and I didn't look at the time at a clock, and you were using your full day to the full potential. When everything was all positive, there were no negativity in my life; except when people piss me off at school or whatever else. You didn't have a form of cynical perception or a lifestyle to rule over your life 24/7. Back when there was no form of stress, well, a minor level of stress in your life, besides that, we had none. We were all carefree, childish, and hilarious before we had reached high school, and then once we had reached high school, this is were had taken life legitimately for what it is - there were some that had taken life remotely seriously, even in elementary school - other than that, none. In high school, we all now have jobs, starting to find jobs, or need a job, starting college, dating seriously, sex, drugs, starting a family, etc, etc. In my own opinion, high school changes everything about us and about everyone that it is going into it or had just completed it. High school changes your life, lifestyle, personality, comedical form, attitude, or how you look at life; however, some do not change, while others do. You need to use it wisely. I still have my elementary form of childhlish humor and I still have my personality intact, and I still do not do recreational drugs, drink, have a family, do not have a girlfriend (not yet), etc, etc.
