I failed to hand in my english coursework before christmas holidays, is there a chance I could make up for it?

I'm 15 and in Year 11 and I have four pieces of coursework outstanding for english language and english literature and I spent so much time knowing precisely what to do and doing it precisely but not quick enough to finish it. I'm not entered for the exams because of the fact that I missed a large number of deadlines and coursework. If I comeback in January with all coursework completed fully and at the very best of my ability, do think there is still hope that the examiners and teachers will enter me four months away from the exams rather than later? I even slept in the middle of the day and stayed up late in the night and began sleeping early in the morning but I still lack focus anyway. Should I use this as an opportunity to make up for loss time or forget about school and drop out and start working because I messed up?

If you think you can manage it, do it. There's ages until the exams, and even if they don't enter you, at least there's a chance they will mark your coursework and you can resit the exams in January 2011. Don't drop out without your qualifications. You'll never get a decent job if you do.

I think you might have been a little misled here. Examination entries are not put in until February..hence most schools doing Mocks in Dec or Jan to decide whether to enter a student and at what level. So, it is not true you are not entered. I suspect this is the teacher's threat to get you working.

The deadline for English Coursework is around May 7th, so you have loads of time to catch up. If you knuckle down you could probably do a piece of coursework in a day. You have not messed up yet..if you want to do this you can. For goodness sake do not give up or drop out. Go back to school in Jan with at least one completed essay and tell your English teacher that you have made a New Year's resolution to succeed in English.

English Language and Maths are the two most important GCSEs so I recommend sticking with it.

If your exam isn't until June/July then chances are your examiner wont even be involved yet and you'll be able to speak to your teacher and get things sorted( the main thing you need to do is convince your teacher to re-enter you for the exams). Get your parents/guardian involved if you have to.

I think you have a great chance if you come back in January with all coursework completed, there was a guy in my class last year who did something similar and he got a C in the end.

Sure thing - I can at least give that - Have a Merry (quiet) Christmas, I'm all alone in my house, except for 2 cats and 1 hound dog - till Christmas afternoon, but it's never a lonely-aloneness when you've got some online friends to make contact with. Here's my favorite also - a (((HUG))) for you.

Give it in, if you don't sit your exams still ask for them back, then re sit in college. Don't give up. I mean I didn't sit ANY of my GCSEs and I had to drop my re-sit of English because I kept falling asleep, but I'm still trying. Once you have your heart set on it, you don't give up. So make sure when that time comes and you find something you like, that you can do it.
