On their list of items we had to buy, there is also listed, "$15.00 supply fee". I have always wondered what this is for, and it seems nobody at the school office can answer my question. If I just spent nearly $70 bucks getting my son's supplies, why must I also send an envelope to class on the 1st day of school with $15 in it? I am just trying to understand something that has never made sense to me. Is it for extra things that come up (doubtful because the school asks for money for every little thing) ? Is it to cover kids that may not have brought supplies?

It's probably for tissues and supplies to do crafts with. I'd talk directly to the teacher & won't give it until you knew for sure. That's 300 dollars if there was just 20 kids in the class. That's 30 bucks a month.

The fee is to cover supplies that the teacher needs for class activities. Typically teachers pay around $500 - $600 per year out of their own pockets for supplies for the classrooms since there isn't enough funding. Many schools are starting to ask for student fees in order to cover some of these costs.

In some places, part of the teacher bought supplies can be claimed as a tax deduction, but not everywhere and nowhere near the full amount they spend.

If the college/instructor asks for a recognition sort, it is often because of the fact off manufacturers are inferior and don't artwork besides. Cheapie crayons do not color besides as Crayola (reckoning on the cheapie sort). Elmer's glue might properly be relied upon to artwork each and every time. greater suitable manufacturers of markers final longer and don't dry out as rapidly. i bought greenback save off-sort colouring pencils as quickly as and that they did not color properly and each and every time I sharpened one, the top broke off. So, they possibly elect young ones to have components that artwork the terrific and could final. whether, have you ever tried going into the place of work? right here, the college can request that we get our very own college components yet can not require it if we are in a position to not have the money for it. If we won't have the money for the climate, the college might desire to furnish them. whether, ask if there are some products on the checklist you may desire to do without, purchase later, or purchase a diverse sort. in line with danger even wait and communicate your youngster's instructor approximately attainable substitutions. often, greenback shops carry call sort products and WalMart might have call manufacturers fairly low priced of their decrease back to college revenues. examine classified ads for shops on your areas. Scrimp on some issues (like indoor footwear) and use the money you save to purchase the greater suitable high quality college components. Edited to characteristic: Sorry - I ignored the 12 packing containers of crayons factor. In kindergarten, college components are usually shared. each and each new child does not save his or her very own field of crayons. The crayons are put in baskets and then on the table while mandatory. the instructor possibly knows what proportion crayons are long undergone in a college 12 months (worn down, broken, and so on.) and how many are mandatory to change them and final the 12 months. I heard dad and mom say this approximately our kindergarten instructor, too, yet i replaced into interior the college room lots and might assure you: those multiples are mandatory and there are not any or very few components left on the top of the 12 months.

Only the school/teacher can tell you that. It varies from school to school. I wouldn't pay the fee unless I knew what it was for.

All the best.
