PUBLIC all the way! Private schools don't necessarily teach you more than public schools do. My cousin and one of my friends went to private school that had cost a lot to go to, they got in fights a lot, and they didn't even teach him the things I learned at a normal public school. There's more diversity and different kinds of kids who go to regular schools. I had friends of all races and ethnicities, and knew lots of foreign exchange students. I really feel that I got a lot more out of my school than my private school friends. There's a higher rate of drug usage at private high schools in actuality, not public. Private school are an excuse for white parents to shove their kids in a school with a low number of minorities, that's why my aunt sent my cousin to one.
I was never approched by strange men, druggies, rapists, molesters or you name it. Nor did I know anyone else who encountered this. There was some pot usage going on, but that was outside of the school, and doesn't mean that kids who do it are mean, dying, or dangerous. Pot is actually not as harmful as the commercials say.
Recently, scientists have actually found that pot really doesn't cause lung cancer, and instead of killing brain cells, it actually makes more grow. On the History channel, it was revealed that many politicians were against pot in the earlier part of the century, and had used marijuana to make illegal Mexican immagrants and black people look more dangerous and more likely to go crazy and rape white women. Do the real research. I never even got in a fight in high school. Kids were usually nice to me, we did a lot of fun things at school, and I never went to a nonpublic school.
I've just heard that worse things happen at private school, contrary to popular belief. Drug dealing, fights, and promiscuity flourish at private schools too. In my town, kids who got drugs like ecstacy, lsd, meth and coke got it at the catholic high school. Kids who were from richer families went there, so the kids were more able to pay for and have the equiptment to make drugs. Don't be fooled. Personally, I would want to go to school with my friends. Why would you want to go to a private catholic school anyway? Go to your friend s school, you won't regret it.
P.S. It's the public schools that have better arts programs and opportunities for smart students. There were college level classes offered at my school. My high school was voted number 1 in my city, over all the private schools and the other public ones.
