Question:
Did my school have the right to search me?

Okay, so a couple days ago I was standing in the lunch line. And 2 guys that are kind of my friends but not really close were in front of me. They said hey to me and then started talking about this weed they bought. I didn't say anything, and wasn't even really standing with them, but there were 2 assistant principles listening and they called all three of us to come with them. They didn't see me was one thing to them at all. They interrogated me about what we were talking about and I explained that I wasn't talking to them and I wasn't listening to their conversation. They searched me anyway, didn't find anything. But they still called my parents and they got pissed at me for it.

Was this a rightful search? I mean when is standing in the lunch line remotely near people discussing drugs probable cause?

They aren't the cops, so yeah, they can do that. They are "in loco parentis", acting as your parents. That gives them the right to do what your parents would do, including searching you. Your parents should not have been pissed at you for it, unless you have a history.

Probably cause only applies to police and relates to evidence summited in court.

It was a rightful search. Since you were in close proximity to the people talking, the assistant principals had reasonable suspicion that you were involved.

Your fault man ive been called up many times to get searched and i refused to let them. A simple no can go a long way.
