Grades vs. Learning?

I was just wondering about the attitudes you guys have towards school. Do you go to school looking to make good grades, or do you go to school to learn? Or both?

Personally, I feel like I have been putting too much emphasis on my grades, and have recently been trying to put more focus on learning. I feel like the attitude one shows toward school has a lot to do with his performance in school. Many of my friends are crazy about their grades, and forget everything they learned in a class after they recieved their A in it. Because of this, my opinion is, trying to learn instead of trying to get a good grade will get you further in your education.

What are your thoughts?

Yeah, I've been thinking about that too recently! I saw something on TV which said teachers nowadays only care about their students getting good grades and only work around the next exam and they have lost the love for the subject and the actual learning. I think knoledge is important but if people don't care and don't want to learn, I think that is their choice. Those who do on the other hand, in my opinion, still can. You can always study things outside school if you are really interested in something. Nothings stopping them so I don't think there is a major problem here. I do have to admit tho, sometimes I care more about my result on a test than what I got wrong and all that haha.

Well, I think both is the answer. Surely it is the ideal, and I guess the theoretical point of education, to LEARN. However, like you must be feeling, that's not always what happens. A lot of times it is really easy to get by with an A and still learn next to nothing... sad but true. I was fortunate to go to a really great highschool - I feel like it taught me to learn...and to love to learn.

The flip side to the whole thing is - even if your friends forget everything they learn and you know all of it (but for whatever reason don't have As) they will probably manage to get further with their education (to an extent anyway). You have to play the game a little...that's just how it is. Not that it's right - but grades are the best and most accepted way to gauge how much someone has learned...

You will also be each, most likely they arrive hand in hand. If you love to be trained, you'll do matters that advertise your schooling equivalent to finding out, taking bigger notes, and paying nearer concentration at school. Colleges appear at your GPA which entails your grades and extracurricular events. Personally I might say studying to be trained new matters is extra fundamental than simply getting that "A". That "A" might aid you get into institution however afterward down the street whilst you're operating that "A" would possibly not aid a lot whilst you're wanting to uncover the peak of an item with trigonometry and you do not do not forget the role. Hope this is sensible.

you can go ahead and work your *** off for good grades

or you can learn it and get good grades with a fraction of the work.

Enjoy school, and ask questions, and grades will come easily. I'm a senior in highschool with a 3.9 GPA and I've hardly done any work. I do consider myself more intelligent than most of my classmates, but what sets me apart is that I can go to school and learn, without stressing about grades.
